Teacher Training School ADPP Kuanda Kubango

The 2nd Year students in Team 2017 are gaining classroom experience at three primary schools in Missombo, namely Ndumba, Missombo and Vunongue. The lack of primary classes in the vicinity of TTC Kuando Kubango has meant more trainees per class than
originally planned. The students spent a period attending courses and learning about lesson planning, then assisted in the classroom before practicing and finally giving lessons themselves. They are teaching all subjects in the primary curriculum, and they work in their core groups
where they discuss and resolve any problems that arise. When not in the classroom, the students are involved in campaigns such as vaccination and deworming as organized by the Provincial Health Department, hygiene awareness, sex education and gender equality. They have organized commemorative events including 4 February, 2 March, 8 March, Peace Day on 4 April, 1 May, 1 June and Environment Day on 5 June. Extracurricular activities for primary pupils range from reading and math clubs, theater, dance, pre-schools for the younger brothers and sisters of pupils attending school, and nature walks. Many of the activities are designed to provide opportunities to socialize and to learn in fun ways. Many of the younger pupils, up to 4th Grade are shy and have serious problems with the Portuguese language.
